Gordon Young

Director

BSc(hons), MA RCA ARB

 

Originally from Hong Kong, Gordon moved to the UK in 1995 and trained at Bath University, the RCA and Southbank University. With a broad experience in commercial fit outs and interior design, he is commercially aware and decisive.

 

Gordon’s strength is concept design and he tends to take the creative lead on the practice’s projects.  He led the team’s designs notably for the VIVI Restaurant at Centre Point & Hutong at the Shard.

 

Gordon worked for a series of notable practices including Foster + Partners, John Pawson and Conran & Partners

 

Gordon then founded SAY Architects in 2007

 

Gordon started Gordon Young Architects in OCT 2018.

 

 

 

Joyce Yip

Architectural Assistant

BA(hons)  MA

 

Joyce Yip joined as a year out graduate in 2015 following her Part I studies at Central Saint Martins. She will return to continue her studies in 2016. She has also completed short placements at Philippe Malouin Studio and Inter Urban Studio.

 

In summer 2014, Joyce was involved in a live collaboration project between Central Saint Martins architecture students and the Bemerton Management Office/ Islington council. The team worked with the local community to prepare a public consultation and develop a design proposal for the East- West Link in Kings Cross.

 

Joyce takes a particularly sensitive approach to design. She is interested in the tactile and sensory experience of architecture and enjoys testing ideas through drawings, sketches and collage.

Jo Hunter

Cross disciplined in interior design and architecture, for the last 15 years, Jo has worked with many leading design practices. She has extensive experience as lead designer in the hospitality sector and also in cinema design, retail and workplace. From concept stage, forming identities, through to the critical details of on site delivery. She has a unique skill set, with a fresh thinking approach, prolific creative ideas and a feel for setting the right tone. As well as expertise, founded through her architectural background, of delivering tight, detailed drawing sets.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kirk Ray Morrison

Architect

BA(hons) MA

 

Originally from the sunny island of Jamaica, he moved to London in 2001. Kirk  studied at South Bank University, Westminster University   and The , London Met (CASS).  Before founding Huram Design Studio he worked for several high profile London based practices including; Conran & Partners, Pascall & Watson, Lewis & Hicky, and Make Architects.

 

Kirk Morriosn acts as a consultant to Gordon Young Architects.

David Keech

Studio Partner Director

 

David was the first non-Japanese designer to join Yamaha’s creative team in Hamamatsu and produced a number of ground-breaking designs in their music equipment and consumer product sectors. He was a key force in the internationalisation of Yamaha’s design team.

 

Before working in Japan, David was an Associate at Foster & Partners, joining as a member of the Bilbao Metro project team

 

He was one of the founding members of F&P’s in-house product design team, gaining deep experience in architecture, product design and project management. He also worked on several personal projects for Norman Foster, for both his private use and bespoke development.

 

David has led numerous projects on the Innovation Design Engineering course at the Royal College of Art as a senior visiting tutor, he is also a visiting Project Leader at KLC School of Design.

Senior Designer

 

Lee manages and contributes to a diverse scope of projects ranging from trend analysis and user experience research to branding and product development for their international client portfolio - including the likes of Seiko Epson Corporation and Yamaha.

 

Experience working on consumer products in China has shaped his passion for travel and Lee regularly finds himself abroad supporting the studio's international clients.
