SAY Architects were asked by Eton College to refurbish the function rooms of their first floor boathouse at Dorney Lake. The space is used regularly for college and public events and the lake was the venue for the Olympic rowing competitions in 2012. The brief was to address the identity of the space, re-integrating it with the legacy of events at Dorney Lake. The new scheme had to incorporate high levels of flexibility and create a subtle identity in order to cater for all the various types of functions, ranging from sporting competitions and charity dinners to corporate events.
