2011

This four-storey terraced Victorian house, located in Camden, London, required a full refurbishment including a rear full width extension on the lower ground floor level. The clients are an artist specialising in print work and his partner, along with their two sons. The client’s artwork is mainly in A1 format; one of the main requirements, therefore, was to create a space to store the prints and make them easily accessible for viewing.

SAY Architects decided to introduce a bespoke floor-to-ceiling joinery unit running along an entire wall, which would hold all of the prints horizontally in drawers. The kitchen and the extension represent the most important parts of the house for the family, since this is where food and art comes together, two aspects that particularly influenced the design.
